On the ARC Team for a Carolyn Twede Frank Book

I recently got accepted to be on the ARC team for Carolyn Twede Frank’s upcoming book, To Be a Lady. This book is currently scheduled for publication on September 23, 2024, so I’ve got about a month to read and review it. I should have it done long before that.

This could be her in the ARC book.

A Sneak Peek At My Thoughts

Carolyn Twede Frank writes an assortment of books, mostly historical fiction or romance. Yet, my previous experience is mostly with her World War II books, The Hitler Dilemma and Trapped in East Germany. I’ve been interested in reading some of her other books for a while now. I even have at least one that I’ve purchased and just not read yet. While To Be a Lady is not her first Regency novel, this will be my first time reading one of her Regency novels. I’m interested to see how the writing style compares. World War II and Regency are very different genres. Can she handle them both well?

I got an ARC from this author.

Thoughts Thus Far on This ARC

I got accepted for the ARC team earlier today. I just finished the second chapter, so this is a very early assessment of my thoughts. It feels like it will contain some of the elements of your typical Regency novel, mainly the female character likely falling in love with the guy she hates in the beginning. Yet, Mary is a more independent female character than you’d find in a typical Regency novel. Plus, it’s apparent right away that her family has had some financial struggles. They aren’t quite the elite family you’ll usually find in maybe Regency novels. Okay, maybe that has some Sense and Sensibility vibes, but this book doesn’t seem like we’re dealing with the Dashwoods.

What You Can Expect

I’m reading several books right now. They probably should go ahead of this one in priority. After all, some of them are Goodread Giveaway books that I won several months ago. Yet, this one is definitely catching my interest more than the other books I’ve been reading lately. I anticipate finishing this one in the next two or three days, so you can expect a review of it on here sometime next week most likely. I’ll let you know if it’s worth reading. As it is, I’d guess that it will be worth it.
